Mayor James invites community to attend first annual KCMO Ideas Fair

October 24, 2013 - KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI

Mayor Sly James invites the community to attend the inaugural KCMO Ideas Fair.  The Fair is scheduled for October 26th from 9 am until 1 pm at Central Library. The goal of the KCMO Ideas Fair is to crowdsource best practices and exchange ideas for community development.

Mayor James will be on hand to meet participants and learn about their project ideas. The public is also invited to attend the Fair to receive “curbside consulting” from City departments, attend community-building workshops, and learn about other resources available for their neighborhood.  The City’s Chief Innovation Officer, Ashley Hand, with support from the Mayor’s Challenge Cabinet, is coordinating the Fair and will report results to the community.

This new event is a great way for residents to both learn more about our community’s resources and actively participate in making Kansas City best,” said Mayor Sly James. “Kansas Citians are innovative people and I am looking forward to seeing the ideas they have for the City.”

Ideas for the fair were accepted for three weeks. The best of those projects will be exhibited Saturday and will be recognized for their impact on the community. For more information about the KCMO Ideas Fair, please contact Ashley Hand, Chief Innovation Officer, at or at .
