Statement from Mayor James on Mizzou’s move to the SEC

November 7, 2011 - KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
From the Mayor:

“While yesterday’s announcement was not a big surprise, it is still disappointing. The University of Missouri founded what would become the Big 12 at the Midland Hotel here in Kansas City in 1907. For over a century, we have shared a unique relationship with the Tigers. I certainly hope our relationship does not end, even if it must change. Mizzou and Kansas City have a unique bond. Through Border War games and Norm Stewart masterpieces, our city has cheered loudly and proudly for the gold and black. We wish them luck as they join the SEC, but we are clearly sad to see them leave the conference they founded.” –Mayor Sly James
