Mayor Sly James, along with Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo, Councilman Jim Glover, and Councilwoman Jan Marcason, met with representatives from Highwoods Properties and members of the “Save Our Plaza” organization this morning to continue talks toward a resolution on the proposed Plaza office building.
“This morning we had a healthy discussion on the proposed Highwoods Properties office building and made progress towards reaching a solution all sides can agree to,” Mayor James reported. “While we still have work to do before the issue is behind us, I want the people of this City to know that the City Council and I are maintaining our commitment to reach an agreeable conclusion. I would like to congratulate both Highwoods Properties and the members of ‘Save Our Plaza’ for their professionalism and resolve to find an appropriate and respectful resolution.”
Representatives from Highwoods Properties and “Save Our Plaza” will discuss today’s meeting with City officials within their respective organizations. Mayor James will call another meeting between these two groups and City officials once those internal meetings take place.
