This summer’s program will build upon the successes of last year and reflect the City’s enhanced investment in Club KC.
(Kansas City, Missouri) — Tomorrow, Kansas City Mayor Sly James will join with the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, including Board President Jean Paul Chaurand, and Mark McHenry, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department, to officially launch the registration period for Mayor’s Nights 2013. He will also announce details of the Mayor’s Night Hoops, Night Kicks, and Night Nets programs in addition to enhancements to Club KC.
“Last summer, with the help of KC-AERC, the Kauffman Foundation, and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, we asked our local youth what types of activities they wanted to ensure a safe and fun break from the school year. They responded and we listened,” said Mayor James. “That collaboration resulted in the creation of Club KC, an eight week program that served over 7400 youth and, combined with the established sports-focused programs like Night Hoops, Night Kicks, and Night Nets, gave our youth safe entertainment options. We’re stepping things up a notch this summer and I’m certain none of local youth will want to miss out.”
