Mayor Sly James today appointed Jennifer Dameron to serve on the Tax Increment Finance Commission.
“I am very pleased that Jennifer has agreed to accept this appointment and to represent the City Council and me as we promote effective development to make Kansas City great,” Mayor James said. “Her experience and acumen are an asset to the entire community.”
Dameron previously was of counsel to local law firms, City Attorney and Prosecutor for the City of Windsor, Missouri, and an Assistant Missouri Attorney General.
She was also previously active with the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City, the Women’s Law Association of Mid-Missouri and in political circles throughout Kansas City, Jackson County and Missouri.
The Tax Increment Financing Commission is a financing and development tool that allows future real property taxes and other taxes generated by new development to pay for costs of construction of public infrastructure and other improvements.
TIF encourages development of blighted, substandard and economically underutilized areas that would not be developed without public assistance.
Dameron succeeds Philip Glynn as a mayoral appointee on the commission.
