The City of Kansas City, Missouri invites residents ages 16 and older interested in paid internship positions to attend the Ninth Annual Bright Future Employment Fair.
The fair will take place Saturday, April 20th from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pierson Auditorium, 5000 Holmes Rd. Kansas City, Mo.
“The Bright Future Employment Program is a great way for our community’s young people to hone important job skills and build their professional resumes. I hope our residents take advantage of this unique opportunity and I look forward to meeting a new group of Bright Future Interns,” said Mayor Sly James.
The Bright Future program has provided more than 3,500 area residents with paid part-time, full-time and internship opportunities since its inception in 2005.
“I consider my experience in the Bright Futures Internship Program to have been a vital step in helping me to get where I am today and in shaping my future,” said Christina Shackelford, a former Bright Future intern and member of the Rockhurst University Class of 2015. “I really appreciated that the program was comprehensive enough to build upon my own skills while allowing me to develop new ones in a supportive and positive environment. Not only did I leave the program with a better understanding of city governance and my own civic responsibility, but I also gained a clearer plan for my future and even more enthusiasm to serve the community in my future career.”
The City’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement will also provide a Resume Preparation Seminar on Saturday, April 6 to assist residents with resume techniques and interviewing tools.
