Mayor James announces his appointments to the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority

Mayor appoints members of a key commission on which he previously served

Today, Mayor Sly James announced his appointments to Kansas City’s Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) Board of Commissioners. “We have had hundreds of applications submitted by Kansas Citians willing to give back to our City by serving on a Board or Commission. I am excited to announce these appointments to the LCRA, a board on which I have proudly served.  This commission is tasked with encouraging investment and assisting in the removal of blight and blighting conditions within urban renewal areas. Like our Parks Board appointees, this is a diverse group, each one representing different parts and characteristics of Kansas City,” said Mayor James.

The Mayor has appointed the following residents of Kansas City, Missouri to the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) Board of Commissioners:

Chairman, Michael Duffy serves as Managing Attorney for Legal Aid of Western Missouri and has been reappointed as Chairman of the LCRA.

Vice Chairman, James White, now retired, formerly was the Program Director of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) of Kansas  City.

Steven Hamilton is an attorney and a primary member of Stinson Morrison Hecker’s Real Estate Division and is actively involved in its Construction Law Practice Group and Financial Services Division.

JoAnn Fox Rahtjen, a resident of the Old Northeast Neighborhood, is the owner of Foxcraft Design, Inc. a company specializing in restoring historic homes.

Gabriel Okafor is the owner and president of Alpha Energy and Electric Company. Prior to starting his business, Mr. Okafor managed the City’s Division of Economic Development and Business Assistance (EDBA) and has a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning. He is a resident of the Third Council District with his wife and three children.
