Kansas City, MO – Today, Mayor Sly James appointed Jason Parson to the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Commission and Ronnie Criss to the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority (PIEA) Board of Commissioners.
Parson is currently the President of Parson & Associates, LLC and previously served in both the United States Army and United States Air Force Reserve.
The TIF Commission is a financing and development tool that allows future real property taxes and other taxes generated by new development to be reinvested for the construction of public infrastructure and other improvements. TIF encourages development of blighted, substandard and economically underutilized areas that would not otherwise occur without a public-private partnership.
Parson succeeds Jennifer Dameron as a mayoral appointee on the commission.
Criss is currently a Business Representative for the St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council and has served on staff for 14 years. Criss previously worked for Firebaugh Construction as a Carpenter Foreman for 25 years. He has been a member of the Kansas City Carpenters Union for nearly 42 years.
PIEA incentives encourage investment and remove blight within PIEA Plan Areas. Projects must be located within the boundaries of a PIEA Plan Area and must be in accordance with the use and design plans of the associated General Development Plan.
PIEA staff and the Board of Commissioners will review project plans for conformance with the General Development Plan, including building use and design elements appropriate to the surrounding neighborhoods.
Criss succeeds Bonnie Sue Cooper as a mayoral appointee on the commission.
