Mayor’s Task Force for the Arts

The Mayor’s Task Force for the Arts of Kansas City, Missouri, was created by Mayor Sly James in 2011 to address the need for a better approach to the development and marketing of the City’s art and cultural assets; and demonstrate the importance of Creative Placemaking. The work of the MTFA and resulting assessment and planning report will mark the first comprehensive review of arts-related policy in Kansas City since 1997. Elected City officials will use this report to update the City’s arts and cultural policy to make them more purposeful, rewarding, and meaningful for our communities.

EnvisionACKC was the public-input aspect of this planning process. Gained from community crowdsourcing, citizen feedback will directly help set the framework for the City’s future Arts and Culture Plan.
